Pain
|
Pain is usually transitory, lasting only until the noxious stimulus is removed or the underlying damage or pathology has healed, but some painful conditions, such as rheumatoid arthritis, peripheral neuropathy, cancer and idiopathic pain, may persist for years. Pain that lasts a long time is called chronic, and pain that resolves quickly is called acute. Traditionally, the distinction between acute and chronic pain has relied upon an arbitrary interval of time from onset; the two most commonly used markers being 3 months and 6 months since the onset of pain, though some theorists and researchers have placed the transition from acute to chronic pain at 12 months. Others apply acute to pain that lasts less than 30 days, chronic to pain of more than six months duration, and subacute to pain that lasts from one to six months. A popular alternative definition of chronic pain, involving no arbitrarily fixed durations is "pain that extends beyond the expected period of healing." Chronic pain may be classified as "malignant" (caused by cancer) or "benign" (non-malignant). Region and systemPain can be classed according to its location in the body, as in headache, low back pain and pelvic pain; or according to the body system involved, such as myofascial pain (emanating from skeletal muscles or the fibrous sheath surrounding them), rheumatic pain (emanating from the joints and surrounding tissue), neuropathic pain (caused by damage or illness affecting the somatosensory system), or vascular (pain from blood vessels). Me and my girlfriend are planning on having sex for the first time, but we wan to reduce her pain as much as possible as we both know she may end up in a lot of pain, ATM she can barely manage having 2 fingers inside her and her hymen may not be broken yet, also I have a larger than average size penis, which does not really help at this stage, so what can we do to reduce her pain and potential bleeding? Asked by - Tue Dec 29 11:38:08 2009 - Women's Health - 10 Answers - Comments A. Lube could definitely help a lot in this case. It's not uncommon for people to use it, especially for their first time! Also, make sure there is a lot of foreplay as that will cause her to naturally lubricate more, plus help you both relax. Relaxation is a huge key because being stressed or worried can cause you to tighten up. And to be honest, I thought my first time would hurt a lot, since I also wasn't that "stretched" when it came to my hymen, but it turned out fine. The initial entry is going to be uncomfortable for half a second, but then I felt good. ^_^ Good luck and be safe! Answered by Clover - Tue Dec 29 11:44:21 2009 What pain relievers are okay to take while having a glass of wine?
Q. I have chronic neck problems which results in muscle spasms and pain. I take Tylenol 3 or Advil to help control the pain. Occasionally, I would like to have a glass of wine, I'm not a big drinker though. What pain reliever is acceptable to take while drinking? I understand that Tylenol is not okay due to liver issues.
