What percentage of global warming deniers can't differentiate between weather and climate?
Q. It seems like half the questions in the global warming section these days are 'if global warming is true why is it snowing today?'. What percentage of global warming deniers do you think don't know the difference between weather and climate, local and global, or past and present? Considering this figure and the small minority of people who continue to deny anthropogenic global warming (AGW), what does this tell you about the AGW denial movement?

A. It is astonishing how stupid people on here are concernig GW. Basic displays of stupidity I see here all the time: 1.) Confusing global change with local fluctuations. 2.) Confusing vast timespans in the past with brief time spans in the present. 3.) Confusing disagreements over specifics of GW with a disagreement over whether it is man-made or happening at all. 4.) Confusing the difference between scientific data with world-wide concensus and paid political punditry. 5.) Confusing natural variations of climate for known reasons with current abrupt variations which those knowns reasons do nothing to explain. 6.) Using ignorant "knock-down" arguments as if nobody doing serious research has ever thought of that already and demolished… [cont.]

How can it be global warming if the mean average global temperature has been cooling since 2001?
Q. And the fact that global warming is based almost entirely on extremely flawed computer models that have been consistently wrong since they've been used. How can you people buy this garbage? Oh and the polar bears are increasing in numbers, and they survived when temperatures were much warmer than they have ever been in the last century.

A. There is no harm coming from the mild increase in temperatures over the last 100 years. Now if it got cold I would get worried in a big hurry because it would mean millions of starving people looking for food and a warmer place to live. All the barbarian invasions happened during cold periods, not warm periods. 150 years ago when the world was at what the AGW believers thought was a good climate range we were actually in an unusual cold period scientifically know as the Dalton solar minimum. Stop for a minute and realize that the baseline temperature we have warmed from was people skating on ice in the spring on the Delaware and Hudson rivers. Why do people want to disprove global warming? What do they have to gain?
Q. I am not going to debate if global warming is happening or not, but shouldnt we be looking to save our environment and rainforest anyway? Havnt we been in an evironmental crisis since the beginning of the industrial age.? Ultimatley shouldnt we be looking to move toward more sustainable solutions that dont harm the environment anyway despite global warming... Isn't renewable energy our solution to dependency on foreign oil sources and fossil fuel? How can anyone try to discredit the importance of sustainability, the environment and renewable energy in future societies?

A. All too true... I think people don't want to have to "cop" to the results of our actions, change and "be hassled" by doing what might be better for our environment or really just be bothered with any of it. It seems pretty obvious that we have been destroying our environment everywhere you turn. Regardless if we were causing global warming or not, we still need to stop the destruction of all of the natural habitats of so many other creatures existing on this planet, stop ravaging the lands and using up all of these limited resources that we have and find ways to live and use resources that are replenishable enough to consider nearly limitless.
