A. Lord Keynes argued that if government spends enough, even in deficit, than unemployment could disappear. The US government currently spends about 40% of GDP, a major part of it's expenditure includes services, like DMV workers, medicaid personnel, political administrations on a federal level - all these and more contribute jobs to the workforce. Further, the government outsources for goods, this is by- for example- road construction- where the workers are hired by the gov but belong to a private business, weapons manufacturers, computer techs, heat servicing et cetera et cetera. all of which contribute to the workforce having a higher employment rate than if the gov were not hiring all these, or rather hired more on necessity/only with a… [cont.]

A. It doesn't. The "invisible hand" theory says that producers will want to make money and will find that they can do so by supplying goods and services that people will buy so they produce such goods: But: 1. If people can't afford to buy the goods, then suppliers will not produce them, no matter how much consumers actually want it. This is a major reason why drug companies don't produce drugs for many tropical diseases. 2. The market can't produce everything. It has done a terrible job at producing big construction projects (roads, stadiums, malls, housing developments, etc.) without extensive government help (use of eminent domain to get land, subsidies of various sorts, etc.). Q. how does an economy determine who gets its goods and services? i am not quite sure about the answer, is it the wages and consumers? or people who have ability to afford the services and goods?
