Music is an art form whose medium is sound. Common elements of music are pitch (which governs melody and harmony), rhythm (and its associated concepts tempo, meter, and articulation), dynamics, and the sonic qualities of timbre and texture. The word derives from Greek μουσική (mousike), "(art) of the Muses".

The creation, performance, significance, and even the definition of music vary according to culture and social context. Music ranges from strictly organized compositions (and their recreation in performance), through improvisational music to aleatoric forms. Music can be divided into genres and subgenres, although the dividing lines and relationships between music genres are often subtle, sometimes open to individual interpretation, and occasionally controversial. Within "the arts", music may be classified as a performing art, a fine art, and auditory art.

To many people in many cultures music is an important part of their way of life. Greek philosophers and ancient Indian philosophers defined music as tones ordered horizontally as melodies and vertically as harmonies. Common sayings such as "the harmony of the spheres" and "it is music to my ears" point to the notion that music is often ordered and pleasant to listen to. However, 20th-century composer John Cage thought that any sound can be music, saying, for example, "There is no noise, only sound." According to musicologist Jean-Jacques Nattiez, "the border between music and noise is always culturally defined—which implies that, even within a single society, this border does not always pass through the same place; in short, there is rarely a consensus.... By all accounts there is no single and intercultural universal concept defining what music might be, except that it is 'sound through time'."

A. You can't... iTunes knows those files are illegal and now you have yourself some problems...what you do is buy your music, and then it will show in your library...

What music would be good for 4-5year old kids to listen to while they are skating?
Q. I have been asked to make a CD for a skating party and I need good upbeat music that 4-5 year old kids could/will listen too. There are 3 boys and only 1 girls that are coming so the music has to be general, nothing too girl like, nothing to boy like. Any suggestions? They have to be able to "dance" to the music and enjoy what they are listening too. I need about 4 songs more.

A. Have you ever considered those Kids Bop cd's? My daughter used to love those. They update them all the time. I think you can purchase them from most retail stores. I hope this helps!

What kind of music makes a plant grow more?
Q. can music actually make a plant grow faster, if so what kind of music? If music doesnt do anything at all does silence make the difference?

A. I think they did an experiment on this way back in the 60's. It turned out, as I remember, that classical music made plants grow while hard rock (like metallica) actually killed them. But then maybe that was a flawed study done by rock and roll hating people. Honestly though, I personally think plants, and animals (including people) generally are calmer, more relaxed and even think better while listening to the so called 'classics' than to the more jarring and jangling 'contemporary' music.
